We had 16 anglers attending the first Veterans Cup outing of the new season, 5 of whom had entered for the first time π.
Reports on Social Media had indicated healthy catch numbers on the Friday and Saturday leading up, so expectation in the group was high and hopes that the overnight frost didn't change things.
After a breakfast roll we all headed off. The majority of boats staying to the East side of the Lake but relatively spread out. With fish showing on the surface most anglers I believe fished high in the water column on tip lines hoping for buzzer takes. As the morning progressed, the changeable wind direction made holding a drift difficult but from what I could see there were lots of boats on the move which generally means the fishing was a bit more challenging than expected and anglers were needing to move to find the feeding fish.
The lunch break gave everyone a chance to regroup and discuss the morning findings.
The top rods at that stage being Gerry on 4 and Jock K on 5. Most had caught through the morning apart from Stuart and myself.
The afternoon session seen most of the fleet set off and turn left heading to the drifts between Lochend and Bogle Knowe.
Cammy and I eventually found feeding fish on the edge of Kates Brae. We were both on 3ft tip lines and when I made the switch from buzzers to cormorants it made all the difference and I finally started catching.
Finishing at 4.30pm it was apparent the fishing was a bit more challenging than the previous few days but it appeared that everyone had a good day.
