The Veterans Cup is an individual competition fished to fishery rules from drifting boats. The League style competition is held at The Lake of Menteith and is fished over 7 rounds from March to September. Results will be decided on best 4 rounds from 7.

These outings are a great way to get out on a boat and fish loch style, whether you are new to the sport or to the fishing style, you will be sure to have a great day among fellow veterans and some top class anglers.

This is a friendly competition in a relaxed atmosphere where you will fish in two sessions, morning and afternoon with lunch in between supplied by the club sponsors. This also gives you the chance to get to know other veterans within the club and share your experiences and knowledge of the sport, as well as some banter. Please be aware that this is only registered interest and doesn’t guarantee a place, this will be confirmed by email closer to each event.

MVFF UK Championships 2025

We are very please to announce that this years event will be held at LLYN CLYWEDOG TROUT FISHERY in Wales on the 6th & 7th September.

We have secured accommodation at the HAFREN FOREST HIDEAWAY at a Veterans discounted rate. With food we estimate £180 pp for 3 nights - 5th, 6th & 7th (slightly dependent on numbers).

We fully appreciate it's very early in the season but would like a 👍 on this post if this event is something you might like to attend (this is purely so we can get a "feel" for numbers to secure boats).

The Scottish Club Championships is a three man team event fished to International Rules. It is fished at The Lake of Menteith and is a knockout event consisting of a prelim round, semi final and final. These are done in a series of heats consisting of approx 6-8 teams. The prelim round is an evening session PM 1730-2200. Only the top four teams go through from each heat to the semi and then half from each semi to the final, both of which are fished during the day.

Committee will select teams from across the club through criteria

The Airflo Open Championship is Teams of 6 and will be fishing to be crowned the top competition team in the UK, and take home the Silver Salver from this prestigious event.

Each heat will be strictly limited to 10 teams, with 50% of the teams qualifying for one of our finals, so enter early to avoid disappointment!

The top 3 teams at each heat will be invited to the Grand final at Rutland Water and a further 2 teams at each round invited to fish The Shield (a one day event) at Draycote water in September.

Military Veterans will have two teams in this competition, one on the daytime heat at Lake of Menteith and one at the night time heat at Lake of Menteith. Teams will be selected by the committee based on merit from last year and previous competitions.

A great way to get involved with the club, for beginners and experienced alike. Fishing on small water fisheries throughout the winter to fishery rules, great banter and fishing. Lunch will also be provided by the fishery, we love these outings as they are a more relaxed outing compared to other competitions.
