2023 Veterans Cup Round 1 Lake of Menteith

The lake of Menteith welcomed us yesterday in almost perfect conditions. A little cold, but buzzers filled the air and their shucks littered the water. Huge pods of fish could be seen moving across the water as we set off, some people (Charlie) got straight in to the fish and had consistent sport all day. Others (Me) couldn’t buy a bite.

We returned to the lodge after the morning session for some fantastic lunch kindly provided by Magic. Fly patterns, locations and fly lines were discussed and an appropriate amount of banter directed at those found lacking (Me).

Two of our sponsors joined us for the day and throughly enjoyed the experience, they have passed their thanks onto the Team and really appreciated the gift presented to them at the interval. Without our sponsors and brand affiliates we wouldn’t be able to operate.

Mixed results from the first Veterans Cup outing of 2023. Clearly Charlie Will found the fish and a method that worked well with a very consistent catch of 11 fish. We will be monitoring rod averages throughout the season as well as allocating points on a low to high basis to determine the most consistent angler and Veterans Cup Champion.
